After much controversy, delays and overspending, Mater Dei hospital finally replaced the old and dodgy St. Luke’s hospital in June 2007 with the last of the personnel having migrated by November of the same year. The cost of the project had been initially predicted to be around 116m Euro, however the end cost reached over half a billion Euro in total.
Malta’s health care is provided for free (well not exactly for free, just from the tax payers money) by the state and over 80% of the Maltese population makes use of it.
Starting off in Germany as a grocery store in 1930’s Lidl is now one of the leading names in European Supermarkets. Their aim is to sell top quality products at the cheapest possible prices while at the same time being environmentally conscious too. In fact all Lidl fish products are MSC Certified, meaning that they do their utmost to protect the worlds marine resources.
The actual summer season may soon be officially over but who says that we must stop going to the beach? The water temperature remains bearable well into November and for the braver ones even December. Plus once the children all go back to school (most start on the 28th September, mark it on your calendars) and the number of tourists decline Malta’s beaches become even more appealing and much more peaceful.
Marsaxlokk is a typical Maltese fishing village situated in the South of Malta. An outside market is held there on a daily basis where you can also buy freshly caught fish and seafood.
