Malta Veterinary Clinics
Pets in Malta are very common and now with a couple of local hotels who are accepting pets too, more people even tourists are looking for vet clinics in Malta, veterinary resources or simply looking for animal surgeons or checking whether there are any local pet hospitals.
Recently I have been asked to compile a list of Malta vet clinics. I was not able to find easily an online website that clearly includes all professionals, but after some research I managed to prepare for you the following information, including as much detail as possible.
- All Animal Clinic (Raheb Street, Tarxien) Tel: 21693061
- Animal Aid (Oscar Zammit, Msida) Tel: 27838838
- Blue Cross Veterinary Clinic (Msida Road, Birkirkara) Tel: 21492174
- Highrise Clinic (Imradd Street, Ta’ Xbiex) Tel: 21322150
- Med Vet (Valley Road, Birkirkara) Tel: 21442843
- Qormi Vet Clinic (St Roque Street, Qormi) Tel: 21480480
- St Anne’s Veterinary Clinic (Faxxina Street, Swieqi) Tel: 21375067
- St Francis Pet Clinic (Kittenija Street, Zurrieq) Tel: 21641411
- St Simon’s Veterinary Practice (Giorgio Grognat Street, Mosta)
- Trevor’s Veterinary Clinic (Kananea Street, Attard) Tel: 21423100
- Vet Care (Misrah Lewza Street, San Gwann) Tel: 21332101
Most of the veterinary surgeons and clinics are open from Monday to Friday for couple hours in the morning and then again late in the afternoon. As a general rule, I understand that they are open only for emergencies on Saturdays. Many vets do give their mobile numbers too and perform home visits as well. However I’m not listing such data publicly here, but will suggest you to contact or visit them directly for more details.
If you’re looking for the 24hr emergency vet line it’s 50043888. Do note, that it costs €4.66 and you can phone only from a land line.
Whilst hoping I included most of the Malta vets, please feel free to contact me or comment here if you know of other veterinary clinics, animal hospitals or surgeons. I also encourage you to leave your own personal reviews or recommendations.

I would definitely recommend the Animal Aid Clinic in Msida. The clinic is new, clean and the dedicated service is impeccable. Dr Geoffrey Schembri Adami can be contacted directly on 79838838.

Hello, I would like to ask you please if you could recommend me a vet who’s good with exotic animals. I have two Guinea Pigs and my boar is ill. If you know a good exotic vet in Malta, kindly let me know. Thank you so much, you could save my guinea pig’s life. As right now, I feel like crying.

Hi Amy Ann,
Sorry to hear that and wish your boar a speedy recovery. Just found a website about Dr. Zoran Jankovic (a veterinary who practices in Malta). He included some information about guinea pigs too, so I’m assuming he might be able to help you out, his mobile no is 9984 8689.
I suggest you to contact him and please do keep us posted.

Hello, thank you for your help. I took my boar to the vet’s but sadly he died three days later. I felt really sad and now my other boar is sneezing and has a sort of lump in his eyes. You see … I don’t drive, I’m still young and my parents don’t take me seriously, so then they take me to the vet when he is much worse and maybe it is too late. I’m going to take him today, please pray for me that he has nothing serious. Thank you!

I’ve got a Persian cat and I think she’s pregnant. I guess better to take her to the vet to know if she’s 100% ok.

Hi Everyone,
First of all i love all animals, but my favourite has to be dogs. I have a dog of my own, she is 9 years old and she is my baby girl.
I used to use a vet in the St Paul’s Bay area, but went through a bad experience. 3 years ago my dog nearly had no life left in her, because of pills that were prescribed for her, but as God wanted it, it was not time for my dog to leave this world and to-today she is still with me. I changed my vet straight away and started to use Dr Adrian Vella in Qormi, he is a brilliant vet and would not change him for anyone else.
I also have the same problem as Amy Ann Azzopardi that wrote a couple of comments here above, as i do not drive and to get from St Paul’s Bay to Qormi can sometimes be a problem, but when i cannot find anybody to take me I call a taxi and take my dog to the vet by taxi. It is expensive but I’d rather go without myself to make sure I get my dog seen to by Dr Adrian Vella.
Next Wednesday 28th October I have to take my dog to have a small operation done, which is to get a cyst removed from her neck, so please all pray for her.

Hi does anyone have the telephone number of the German vet that is in Balzan?

Dear All,
Well Nikita’s operation went well, and took only 20 mins, But I was so amazed with her fast recovery, she had 10 stitches done on her neck but amazingly the day after her operation she was running around, jumping, moving her neck and going up and down stairs with no trouble at all and was back to her normal self. It was as if she had nothing done to her.
Dr Adrian Vella from Qormi is such an amazing Vet and I would like to thank him so much.
Regards

Dear All,
Well as i told you all here above that Nikita’s operation went well and her recovery progress was fantastic. She has now had her stitches removed and is doing very well. I had a call to say that her Biopsy results are ready and will be going to pick them up tomorrow, just hope and pray that all she had was a cyst and nothing more serious.
Regards

Can anyone tell me if Malta currently provides or is planning to provide cremation for pets? I’ve heard there is no provision so far. If not, can provision be made for shipping deceased pets back to a country that does provide cremation?
Cheers

Dear All,
I’m very happy to hear that there’s a lot of people who love so much their pets. Can anyone help me please? I have a year old rabbit who is sick and need a good vet. I’ve already tried someone but did not help much and I’m starting to be very worried.

I would recommend Dr Geoffrey Schembri Adami. He’s already been recommended by another blog commenter, but my experience has been truly positive too so it’s only fair that I mention him again. His Clinic is close to Lidl in Sta Venera: Animal Aid, Oscar Zammit Street, Msida. You can contact him directly on mobile 79 838 838 or at the clinic by telephone on 27 838 838.

Hi all,
After 2 months of not seeing my baby dog I’ve picked her up from the airport, but she has to stay for 30 days in Quarantine. Sadly, because the vet (the dog came from Greece) made some mistakes with the vaccination and etc. At the end I could not take my dog with me, needed to leave her there and paid him €435, to take care of her plus also all the examinations and tests which he charged me another €200.
I’m glad now, that she is here, or at least on the island. But as we are moving a lot, I would like to have a vet who knows ALL REGULATIONS! I had a bad experience in Greece with this vet, he did not know anything, ending up checking on the internet and show him all the things he needed to do. Of course, this costs more time, more money and so on.
This time I need a GOOD vet, one who knows WHAT he is doing. I am living in St. Paul’s Bay, who is the closest? Thank you very much.
P.S: Had anyone needed to leave his/her dog in quarantine, how did your dog behave after that? My baby still knows who I am and she is so happy when she sees me. I just wish she will be home soon!
