In summer 2007, MTV brought its popular “Isle of MTV” event to Malta for the first-time, and this is something that has continued to be a highlight of every summer since.
Isle of MTV is a club tour culminating in a live show for up to several thousand people held outdoors at The Granaries, Floriana, just by the entrance to the capital city, Valletta. It’s THE event of the summer, with many non-Maltese flying in from abroad especially for the concert. The show is completely free and the audience is encouraged to use public transport to get to and from the event.
Swinging – or the swinging lifestyle – is a reference to non-exclusive sexual activity that’s usually experienced as a couple, and in the recent past it was often referred to as “wife-swapping”.
Malta conjures up images of a quaint, sleepy Mediterranean island with blue skies, clear warm sea, an abundance of history and culture and a place to sip a cool drink on a quayside at sunset. That’s the impression the advertisements portray, and for many, that’s what Malta represents.
Maltese wines have improved substantially over recent years, and this has led to a good number of wine bars opening across the island in order to satisfy the demand from both tourists and locals alike. Here we take a trip to few and tell you a bit about each.
