The majority are in the Sliema/St. Julians/Valletta area, but others can be located – you just have to know where to find them. People owning a laptop or an iPod Touch, can easily obtain internet access on the hoof. Here’s a list of just some of the Wi-Fi hotspots located in the Maltese Islands.

In Malta, all McDonalds and McCafe outlets have free Wi-Fi. Branches are located in Valletta, Sliema (The Plaza), St. Julians, Paceville (Bay Street), Birkirkara, Bugibba, Malta International Airport and Victoria, Gozo.

Malta Crime Rate & Statistics

Malta Crime RateMalta is a relatively safe country, and it could be claimed that it’s one of the safest countries in the developed world. Visitors to Malta are unlikely to be the victim of crime whilst on holiday. In 2009, it was reported that Malta had a rate of 34 crimes per 1,000 persons, compared to a high of 100/1000 for Finland at one extreme and 10/1000 in Greece.

Whilst most areas of Malta are relatively safe, and violent crimes are few and far between being mostly perpetrated by assailants known to victims, there are crime hotspots that have been identified.

Minimum Wage in Malta

Minimum Wage in Malta (Euro)Malta sets a minimum wage for all employees regardless of whether a worker is a Maltese or foreign National. According to Legal Notice 378 of 2009, Malta’s national weekly minimum wage for 2010 is

€142.67 for employees aged under 17 years,
€145.51 for employees aged 17 years,
€152.29 for employees aged 18 years and over.

Increases in minimum wage levels are linked to the cost of living and inflation rates of the preceding twelve months and minimum wage levels are adjusted on an annual basis.

Gentlemen’s Clubs Malta

Gentlemen's Clubs in MaltaGentlemen’s clubs are also known as lap-dancing bars, strip clubs or pole-dancing venues and there are a good number of these in Malta today. Historically, when the British forces were based here, Valletta’s Strait Street was a hive of activity for strip clubs and other adult activities – it was world-renowned back then. Today, the venue has changed and has been somewhat upgraded, and a number of adult clubs are found mainly in Paceville, but there are also some popular clubs further out in Bugibba and Sliema. These clubs generally are free to enter, serve drinks and have a strict age restriction – adults only.
