Monopoly is a board game created by Parker Brothers back in 1935. It’s estimated that over seven hundred and fifty million people have played this most popular game.

Following its success worldwide, Gamebox Ltd decided to create Monopoly Malta.

The Malta Monopoly Game is in Maltese language and includes localities that were chosen by a panel of judges, some of which were residents of Malta. Maltese people had also the opportunity to choose which photo will be featured on the cover of Monopoly Malta. The shortlist consisted of the Valletta Waterfront, L-Imnajdra Temples and the Maltese flag showcasing the George Cross. An impressive 80% of the voting members choose L-Imnajdra Temples and therefore such photo will be the Malta Monopoly Game box cover for the coming 25 years.

Cigarette prices in Malta, like almost every other country, are expensive mainly because of the high taxes governments impose on them. As it stands currently one can buy locally a packet of cigarettes for €3.70 to a maximum of €4.00 depending the brand.

Although Malta cigarette prices are increasing on a yearly basis, many Maltese people especially women keep consuming tobacco on regular basis.

The European Commission is doing its utmost to discourage people from consuming cigarettes and is planning to force such increase in prices regularly, hoping to achieve its aims.

Malta food prices can vary a lot, depending the cuisine being served at the particular restaurant, it’s ambience and most definitely the location. The cheapest option will obviously be to buy food and drinks from supermarkets.

Maltese bread for example cost only around €0.50 and you can buy a packet of six 2 liter bottles for less than €2.50.

In take-aways or restaurants, food prices in Malta are more expensive than from a supermarket. One can find various small take-away outlets spread throughout the cities, mainly selling local products as well as imported food and drinks.
